The Heart Behind Dogue & Bloom

A little business born from a love that will never fade 🌼

Hello, I’m Shannon, the founder of Dogue & Bloom. This business is so much more than a name to me. It began with the love I have for my dogs, and especially for my beloved Harvey.

Harvey was my Dogue de Bordeaux, my best friend and such a huge part of my life. I had him from the age of 19, and we shared so many years, memories and milestones together. Losing him left a space in my heart that can never be filled, but I wanted to create something that would keep him close and allow his love to live on in everything I do.

That’s where the “Dogue” in Dogue & Bloom comes from: a tribute to my beautiful boy and the breed that brought him into my life. His name may not be on the door, but he is woven into the very heart of this business.

The meaning behind the logo

My logo tells a story that is incredibly personal to me. At its centre are the faces of Harvey and Kovu, joined together. Harvey will always be part of my story, and Kovu, my wonderful Bernese Mountain Dog, continues to fill my days with love and inspiration. Having them side by side felt like the perfect way to represent the dogs who mean so much to me.

The flowers were chosen with just as much thought. The daffodils represent Harvey’s birth month, March, as well as Wales, the place we call home. The dahlias represent Kovu and his birth month, bringing both of my boys into the design in a way that feels beautiful and meaningful.

Every time I look at the logo, I see more than a picture. I see the love I shared with Harvey, the joy Kovu brings me, and the reason this dream means so much.

Why “Bloom”?

To me, bloom is about love, growth and finding your way forward. It’s about something beautiful growing from even the most difficult moments.

Dogue & Bloom grew from the heartbreak of losing Harvey and from my wish to do something positive in his memory. It reminds me that although grief changes us, the love we hold for those we’ve lost can continue to grow in new ways.

I hope every dog who visits feels that love too. Whether they come for a groom, a walk or a little help getting to and from an appointment, I want them to be treated with the same kindness and care I would want for my own.

A little more love to give

My love for animals also inspired The Bloom Again Project. Each month, 10% of grooming revenue goes towards buying products for rescue animals. I also offer free grooms to rescue dogs, helping them feel comfortable and cared for while giving them a chance to shine as they wait for their forever homes 🐾helping me share a little of Harvey’s legacy with dogs who need it most. 🌷

Thank you for being here and for supporting my small business. Every booking, kind word and shared post helps this dream grow—and helps me keep a little piece of Harvey with me along the way.

My love for animals also inspired The Bloom Again Project, a way for me to give something back to dogs in need.
